The Shambles Hexham Market Place

Historic Property Restoration Limited has been appointed as the construction contractor for a restoration project on The Shambles, Hexham.

The building work will commence spring 2025 to ensure the medieval marketplace stands for generations to come. The building itself was erected in 1766, but historical evidence shows markets have been held there since 1222.

Our expert stone masons and joiners aim to reinstate The Shambles to its former glory at the heart of the Hexham Conservation Area.

Originally built as a covered market by Sir Walter Blackett this historically important feature is now owned by Northumberland County Council and is still used by market stall holders today.
