Killhope Lead Mining Coal Wagon

Our recent restoration works at Killhope Lead Mining Museum, Durham included urgent works, repairs to the underground mine, washing floor, mine shop, buddle house and jigger house.

Prior to the conservation works, the jigger house required masonry repairs, alongside gutter works to protect the building from weathering. The buddle house required window repairs, while maintaining the original features of the house. Conservation and preservation works are ongoing to date on the mine shop and various other parts of the museum.

Killhope Lead Mining Museum repairs will enable the museum to continue to educate, remind and impress visitors for years to come following the repair works. Killhope, as an interactive museum, provides the experience of the extensive history of mining in Durham and the surrounding areas.
