Our knowledge of architectural history and traditional materials and techniques allied to our understanding of Listed Building legislation soon gives confidence that another successful project will be achieved.
Whether conserving as found or taking a more restoration approach, we are able to work with the design team in offering pro-active options and advice. We fully appreciate the need for strict budget and programme management and the implications on finances. Many of our projects have been grant-aided by the Heritage Lottery Fund, English Heritage, European Initiatives and others.
Specialising in external fabric or structural repairs we are, however, capable of managing multi-trade work as main contractors when specialist sub-contractors are used to augment our own skills. Recently we have been successful in converting dilapidated medieval almshouses into offices, a church hall into office suites, and repaired the award-winning Fountains Abbey Mill from a ruin to being a Mill Museum open to the public.
Whether working on a World Heritage Site such as Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal or repairing a church gate, our skilled craftsmen faithfully reproduce intricate replacements, which soon blend in with the original historic fabric.
